Caux Initiatives for Business (CIB) aims to engage business-people and decision-influencers in honest conversations on the broad issues associated with globalization and the human face of economics. Participants such as business leaders, young professionals, NGO representatives, trade unionists, business experts, are motivated by a shared commitment to personal integrity. They aim to address economic problems of immediate or long-term concern, including environmental imbalance, social exclusion, job creation and poverty reduction. CIB encourages decision makers to work together to bridge the gap between the theory and practice of values - in personal conduct and in economic life. CIB carries forward its aims through annual conferences at Caux, Switzerland, and Panchgani, India. Caux Initiatives of Business is a member of Initiatives of Change International.
International CIB conferences for business leaders, hosted jointly by India and Japan, are held every second year at Asia Plateau, the IofC centre in Panchgani, India. CIB (Asia) also organizes one-day round table events in various industrial cities in India. Annual conferences on Trust and Integrity in the Global Economy (TIGE) are held at the IofC centre in Caux, Switzerland, engaging all stakeholders in the global economy. One-day TIGERoadshow events are also held in UK cities.
CIB was established as an IofC Programme focusing on people from business and industry by the Caux Foundation, Switzerland in 1973. During that period, these programmes were called 'Caux Conferences for Industry and Business' (CCIB) and it changed to 'CIB' after the organisation was re-branded 'Initiatives of Change' (from ‘'Moral Re-Armament’ or 'MRA') in 2001. Since 1973, annual business conferences were conducted at the IofC Centre in Caux, Switzerland and other places around the world.
